District Committee Meetings -1st Monday of the month at Rosedale Technical Institute, 215 Beacham Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205 (near the intersection of I-79 and Rt. 60 in Kennedy Township).  


Roundtables -

2nd Thursday of the month at Rosedale Technical Institute, 215 Beacham Drive, Pittsburgh, PA 15205 (near the intersection of I-79 and Rt. 60 in Kennedy Township).  

Please note that Rosedale Tech is unavailable for our Nov. 10th Roundtable.  We will instead meet at the CRAFTON COMMUNITY CENTER at 140 Bradford Avenue, Crafton, PA,  15205 - adjacent to the Crafton Municipal Building.   


Frontier District Fall Camporee

October 7-9 Providence Plantation

The living history interpreters at Providence Plantation depict the experiences of revolutionary men and women who struggled and achieved American liberty on the Upper Ohio Valley frontier before colonials in the east were forced by events to fight for the same freedom from the tyranny of Great Britain (late 1700s). Come join us for the weekend as we camp on a private 60-acre site and interactively learn about the history of our region and practice Scouting Skills.

Facilities Details:
Providence Plantation, 300 Textor Hill Rd, Evans City PA 16033
5 minutes off of the Zelienople exit of I79
Private 60 acre site, mostly open field (not hammock friendly).
No water onsite. Please bring your own water.
Port-O-Let restroom facilities.
Leave No Trace Campfires are permitted. There is plenty of firewood on site to cut / gather.
Trailers to be parked in designated trailer area – near campsites, but not right next to your tents.

Program Overview:
Round Robin stations including interpretive history, BB Gun Range, Firebuilding, Pioneering Skills, First Aid, and Mountain Ball.
Evening Campfire Program (bring a skit or song).
Period dress competition.
Service project – 1-hour service project available to all scouts.
Sunday morning Scouts’ Own Service
Higher ranking Scouts in need of service hours can earn up to 10 hours in one weekend while enjoying time with their Scouting friends by serving on staff.

SEEKING DISTRICT CHAIRMAN

District Chairman, Frontier District, Laurel Highlands Council, BSA (Volunteer)

The Boy Scouts of America, Laurel Highlands Council seeks a qualified individual to join the “Key 3” leadership team (along with District Executive and District Commissioner) of its Frontier District, serving youth in Green Tree, Carnegie, Crafton, Ingram, Robinson, North Fayette, McKees Rocks, Coraopolis, Moon Township, Imperial, Clinton, Crescent, Heidelberg, Kirwin Heights, Scott, Bridgeville, and South Fayette.

District Chairman Responsibilities include:

  • Identify and recruit operating committee chairmen
  • Assist committee chairmen recruit members to carry out functions of the district
  • Plan (with the District Executive) and preside at District Committee meetings
  • Represent the Frontier District on the Laurel Highlands Council Board, once elected
  • Help to secure support from top community leaders throughout the Frontier District
  • Recognize individuals, committees, and chartered organizations for their accomplishments

Fall Recruitment:

It is time for fall recruitment Scouters! Our biggest focus is going to be on those kindergarteners who are just itching to become Cub Scouts! Now is the time to start thinking about your big welcome to Scouting event for your unit!

The district will be working with all units in The Frontier District to schedule their sign up nights, open houses, and general recruitment events!
